Welcome to LightingDir.com
The website of Richard Bowles

Hello and welcome
This site is all about the Lighting work Richard Bowles has undertaken, most of which has been for Broadcast Television in the UK, along with a significant amount of Live Events (i.e. Concerts, Corporates, etc) across the UK, Europe, and elsewhere. Oh, and some Films.

Under Construction
There’s a lot to add to this site, and that takes time to get right
- So please keep checking back for more!
- Last major update : Thursday 4th July 2026

Site Navigation
Feedback on the good, the bad, and the ugly is always welcome.
- The Previously… section contains the majority of the content to explore, and will continue to be significantly expanded over time.
- Tabbed views are used throughout this site to flip between related information, and to reduce lengthy scrolling.
- Educational notes indicates some more detailed information about historical productions, which may be of some interest to students of television lighting techniques.
- Most images can be selected to zoom in
- Dark Mode can be toggled on/off in the top right corner.

AI Content
This image is one of a very small number of bespoke illustrative gen-AI imagery content used on this site.
- It’s pretty obviously AI, but we just thought we’d take the opportunity to both point what an impressive (although full of impossibilities) image it is from a very basic prompt, and then to link to our disclosure statement.
- Except where explicitly stated, all the still images are real - as to be imperfect, is to be human…
- All video content is unmodified. …Although if we could, that Britney debut from 1999…
